CAST RESIN DISTRIBUTION TRANSFORMERS

Cast resin transformers are a valid alternative to oil immersed transformers in the case of installation in proximity of people and in indoor environments because of their greater fire resistance and environmental safety, as the lack of cooling liquids eliminates the possibility of oil leaks.

Used in a wide range of infrastructures and commercial or residential developments, our distribution transformers are inglobated in epoxy resin and respond to different customer needs.

Westrafo’s cast resin distribution transformers are available in full ranges of 100, 160, 250, 400, 500, 630, 800, 1000, 1250, 1600, 2000, 2500, 3150 KVA for the Classes 17.5 – 24 kV – 36 KV.

From year 2014, our cast resin transformers for the European market are compliant with the EU548/2014 standard on load and no load losses. The standard insulation system used is 155 degree Celsius Class “F” (International Electro technical Commission), and the standard environmental classes are C2-E2-F1, as stated by the norms IEC 60076-11 and EN 50541-1.

We chose to design and produce distribution transformers with high quality standard features, endowed with PT100 protection devices and, if requested, completed with T-119 and T-154 Monitoring devices and enclosed in customized IP Protection boxes.

DRY TYPE TRANSFORMERS

Dry type distribution transformers are a valid alternative to oil immersed distribution transformers in the case of installation in proximity of people in indoor environments because of their greater fire resistance and environmental safety, as the lack of cooling liquids eliminates the possibility of oil leaks.

Used in a wide range of infrastructures and commercial or residential developments, our distribution transformers respond to different customer needs.

Westrafo’s dry type distribution transformers are available in full ranges of 100, 160, 250, 400, 500, 630, 800, 1000, 1250, 1600, 2000, 2500, 3150 KVA for the Classes 17.5 – 24 – 36 kV

From year 2014 and for EU market, our dry type transformers are compliant with the EU548/2014 standard on load and no load losses. The standard insulation system used is 180 degree Celsius Class “H” (International Electro technical Commission).

We chose to design and produce distribution transformers with high quality standard features, endowed with PT100 protection devices and, if requested, completed with T-119 and T-154 Monitoring devices and enclosed in customized IP Protection boxes.

EARTHING TRANSFORMERS AND REACTORS

Westrafo designs earthing transformers (standard reactors) to provide a neutral connection for the earthing of a three phase transformer connected to the power system. The earthing transformers can be equipped with auxiliary load.

This particular transformer creates a neutral point for a network and its winding is usually manufactured with a zig-zag configuration.

Westrafo earthing transformers are designed respecting international standards and customer specifications, and are endowed with high quality standard features such as thermal and control protection, monitoring systems and customized protective boxes.

GREEN ENERGY TRANSFORMERS

Westrafo designs transformers to be used in green energy plants such as wind power plants and solar plants, where the output of the generating set is controlled by inverter applications, or in hydroelectric, biogas or biomass plants where an engine is usually controlling the output of the plant.

Westrafo green energy solar and wind transformers can be designed with low voltage values starting from few volts up to 900 V for low voltage applications with power up to 10 MVA.

Our transformers are highly customizable according to the type of inverter used, the Nominal Power and Voltage needed and the kind of operational environment, all in the respect of high energy efficiency and low power losses.

Thanks to our technology, the transformers are eco-efficient and environmentally friendly, completing the sustainability of green energy plants thanks to the compliance with the latest standards concerning CO2 emissions, environmental risks and energy efficiency.

As a standard, they are endowed with a C3 or higher painting cycle to ensure long lasting protection in outdoor applications and in windy or extremely hot landscapes, limiting pollution risks and extending the lifespan of the carpentry.

OIL IMMERSED DISTRIBUTION TRANSFORMERS

Westrafo’s distribution transformers are available in full ranges of 50, 100, 200, 315,400, 500, 630, 800, 1000, 1250, 1500, 1600, 2000, 2500, 3150 KVA for the Classes 12 – 24 – 36kV.

We chose to design and produce distribution transformers with high quality standard features, not only complying with IEC60076-1 Norms, but also enhancing the durability and the efficiency of the transformer.

The standard C3 painting cycle applied on all transformers guarantees a + 33% of protection more than the average transformer on the market.

The oil filling the transformers is certified IEC and every transformer is endowed with a certification of PCB and PCT-free oil.

The use of the latest manufacturing technologies such as step-lap cores and oval technology guarantees the maximization of the power/losses rate, and all this at a budget price.

All our standard distribution transformers sold in Europe are compliant with the new EU548/2014 standard on no load and load losses, and tested applying a 0% tolerance to ensure very low energetic and economic losses.

At request, distribution transformers can be customized with the personalization of power rate, primary and secondary Voltage, Insulation class, PEI 2 or TIER 2 values, special accessories or set ups for special applications.

WE ARE SO CONFIDENT IN THE QUALITY OF OUR TRANSFORMERS THAT WE CHOSE TO EXTEND OUR STANDARD WARRANTY TO 24 MONTHS.

VSD AND RECTIFIER TRANSFORMERS

Used to control the speed of rotation of electronic motors, our VSD transformers can be designed for application with low voltage drive (typical range from 160 KVA to 5000 KVA) or with MV drive with power up to 40 MVA.

VSD transformers are usually manufactured with enhanced levels of insulation and high energy efficiency to maintain a constant temperature under stress, electric isolation from the working motor and over voltage capability necessary because of the lack of galvanic separation from the network.

Westrafo VSD transformers are highly customizable and compliant with the IEC standard for Harmonic Control and Reactive Compensation of Static Power Converters.

Westrafo rectifier transformers are used in combination with a diode or thyristor (a four-layered semiconductor rectifier in which the flow of current between two electrodes is triggered by a signal at a third electrode) rectifier system. These type of transformers are designed to respect the phase shifting required in a plant that can usually be from 6 to 60 pulses system.

In cases in which the range of secondary voltages is high, the variation is produced through a regulation transformer besides the main transformer, manufactured with several separated units or with a single tank solution (for this type of transformers is required a common agreement between supplier and customer).
